Secure Chat introduces a helpful feature called Typing Indicators that allows you to know when your contact is composing a message in a chat conversation. This real-time awareness can enhance your communication experience and keep you updated on your contact's current activity.
Turning Off Share "Typing" Indicator
If you have disabled the option to share the "Typing" indicator in your settings, you will not receive typing indicators from other participants, nor will they receive them from you.
Turning On Share "Typing" Indicator
If you have enabled the option to share the "Typing" indicator, the system will immediately send a typing indicator to the receiver when you start composing a message. The typing indicator will reset and expire within 8 seconds if you make any changes to the text. The typing indicator will not be sent if you tap on the typing field without writing a message.
Dismissing the Typing Indicator
The typing indicator will automatically stop sending to the receiver within 8 seconds after you stop typing. It will also stop if you delete the typed symbols, exit the chat fragment, lock your device, minimize or close the app, or if you go offline within 60 seconds.
Writing a Long Message
If you're composing a long message, the system will reset the typing indicator within 50 seconds to let the recipient know that you're still writing.
Participant Offline
Typing indicators are not sent or received when any of the participants in the chat are offline.
The Typing Indicators feature in Secure Chat provides real-time insights into your contact's messaging activity, enhancing your communication experience. By understanding how to interpret and use these indicators, you can stay up to date with ongoing conversations and respond more effectively.
