Introduction:
Secure Chat offers a convenient way to initiate a conference call, allowing you to connect with multiple participants simultaneously. This guide will walk you through the process of merging participants into a conference call and the additional features available during the call.
Step-by-Step Guide:
Step 1: Initiate Individual Calls
Start by initiating separate voice calls with more than one contact. You can select the participants from your contact list and initiate individual calls.
Step 2: Merge Participants into a Conference Call
While in the active calls screen, tap on the "Merge Calls" icon to merge all the added contacts into a conference call. The UI of the screen will adapt dynamically, and text will be set under the button icons to indicate the participants. The user who initiated the merge will be the owner of the conference call.
Step 3: Conference Call Interface
In the conference call interface, both the owner and participants will have three buttons below their screens: Speaker, Hang-up, and Mute. The owner has additional privileges to manage the conference call.
Step 4: Initiate the Conference Call
The system will initiate a conference call between all the merged participants, enabling you to have a seamless conversation. A conference call timer will be displayed on all screens until the call is finished.
Extensions:
Paused Users Can't Merge Calls:
a. If any of the participants are in a paused call, they won't be able to merge calls. The system will display a message: 'You cannot merge contacts in a paused call.' when the paused users attempt to merge calls.
Owner Removes Participants from the Conference Call:
a. The owner of the conference call can remove specific participants from the call. The system will remove the said participants, automatically updating the UI for the rest of the participants.
Owner Cancels the Addition of a Participant:
a. The owner can cancel the addition of a participant before they enter the conference call. The owner removes the pending call invitation, and the call is terminated on the other side before the participant can join.
Owner Adds Another User to the Conference Call:
a. The owner can add another contact to the conference call using the 'Add' button located in the top-right corner under the minimize button.
Limit of Participants in the Conference Call:
a. The owner cannot add more than nine users to the conference call. If the owner tries to add more than nine contacts, the system will display a message: 'You cannot add more than nine contacts to a call.'
Displaying Unknown Users in the Conference Call:
a. If there are unknown users in the conference call, the system will retrieve their names locally first and then from the Vcard if possible. If this is not possible (e.g., users might use a lower version of Secure Chat), they will be displayed with their nickname followed by '@'.
